Luzerner Jugend Brassband 2018

The first week of April I was invited as Guestconductor of the Lucerner Jugend Brassband.

After some years where my scedule was to busy I finally could accept the invitation to be guestconductor of the Lucerner Jugend Brassband 2018.

We worked on a  thrilling program, with the local young soloist Manuel Zemp performing Rhapsody for Trombone by Gordon Langford.

I allready met Manuel in 2016 during the week with the European youth Brassband in Lille.

The first days we practised tutti and in sectionales, with the 2 youth bands (A and B band appr. 100 musicians). The B Band was under the baton of Gian Walker.

The rehearsals and first concert took place in Sarnen.

The second concert was in in  Schwarzenberg,   the last concert took place in Hildesrieden !

The Program:

  • Space Chords
  • Celebration, Ben Hollings
  • Journey of the Lone Wolf, Simon Dobson
  • Rhapsody for Trombone, Gordon Langord, Soloist Manuel Zemp
  • I’m Getting Sentimental over you , Tommie Dorsey, Soloist Manuel Zemp
  • A Little Prayer, Eveline Glennie arr Bob Childs
  • Feeling Good, arrangend by Henk Ummels
  • The Light Fantastic, Paul Lovatt Cooper
  • Concert March from 1941, John Williams

Freaks was the encore! Stunning and so much fun! I love to see the energy and dance moves form all young players.

We were very delighted to announce Erik Janssen as guest conductor of Lucerne Youth Brass Band 2018, knowing he is a busy guy. He makes working on music with young musicians looking so easy and was a huge inspiration to all of us.
